Why warehouses lose the pest battle at the dock
A distribution warehouse is effectively a building with one wall missing for most of the working day. Dock doors stand open, roller doors are propped, and freight arrives from suppliers whose own pest management you do not control. Rodents walk in on pallets, stored product insects arrive inside cartons, and birds enter the void above the racking and stay because it is warm, dry and undisturbed.
Once inside, the scale of the building works against detection. Racking is high, aisles are narrow, product turns over quickly, and activity often shows up first as gnawed cartons or bird fouling on stock rather than as a sighting. By the time it is visible on the floor, contamination has usually already reached product and generated customer claims.
Bird management is the issue most warehouses underestimate. Pigeons and sparrows nesting in the roof structure foul racking, palletised goods, and staff areas below, creating both a product-integrity problem and a WHS problem — and they are far harder and more expensive to remove once nesting is established than to exclude early.

Can you service the warehouse without stopping operations?
Yes. Perimeter and dock work is done during operating hours, and internal or height work is scheduled for night shift, weekends or planned shutdowns so pick and dispatch are never interrupted.
How do you deal with birds already nesting in the roof structure?
We assess the structure, remove nesting material under a documented clean-down procedure, then install proofing — netting, spikes or wire — appropriate to the truss and purlin design, with all height work covered by SWMS and rescue planning.
What do you do about pests arriving on inbound pallets?
We set up a receiving inspection routine and place monitoring in the receiving zone so arriving activity is detected at intake, and we report supplier trends so you can raise it with the origin site.
Can you cover multiple warehouses under one contract?
