Aged Care Pest Control Sydney

Residential aged care carries the highest duty of care of any occupied building we service. Redback delivers resident-safe pest programs with evidence written for the Aged Care Quality Standards and the Commission's site audits.

The risk

Why aged care homes cannot tolerate pest activity

Residents in aged care are immunocompromised, often have thin or fragile skin, limited mobility and reduced ability to report what is happening in their room. A cockroach infestation in a ward kitchenette or a rodent in a resident wing is not just unpleasant — it is an infection control failure and, in the worst reported cases nationally, a serious harm event that ends in media coverage and regulatory sanction.

The building works against you. Commercial kitchens run three meal services a day, food trolleys travel every corridor, soiled linen and continence waste accumulate in utility rooms, and residents keep food in their rooms. Add warm plant rooms, extensive ceiling voids, service penetrations between wings and a 24-hour operation that never lets you close an area, and you have continuous harbourage with continuous food.

Evidence expectations are also unusually high. Under the Aged Care Quality Standards a provider must show a safe and clean service environment, which in practice means a documented pest management program, current records, and demonstrable corrective action when activity is detected. Providers are judged on the paperwork as much as the outcome.

Our program

Our residential aged care program

Monthly service cycles

Scheduled monthly inspection and treatment across kitchen, servery, utility, laundry, waste and resident wings, with frequency lifted where trend data warrants it.

Resident-safe methodology

Sealed-void gels, monitoring and exclusion in occupied areas; no accessible baits or open placements in resident rooms or lounges.

Kitchen & food service control

Cockroach and rodent programs across the commercial kitchen, cool rooms, dry store, servery and food trolley bays.

Laundry & utility rooms

Targeted control in soiled utility, linen and continence waste rooms where fly, cockroach and rodent pressure concentrates.

Experience

Aged care coverage across Sydney

Redback services residential aged care homes across metropolitan Sydney and the south-west, including the dense aged care clusters through Bankstown, Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden, Hurstville and the Hills. Our Macarthur hub keeps response times short for homes in the south-west corridor, where after-hours callouts have historically meant long waits for metro-based contractors.

We are a registered NSW Government supplier (ABN 50 664 332 852) and are actively engaged in NSW Health procurement including South Western Sydney Local Health District tendering, so our clinical-area protocols, insurances and reporting formats already meet health-sector contract requirements.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How do you treat with residents in the building?

Occupied areas are handled with sealed-void gels, monitoring and physical exclusion rather than open or accessible placements. Where a residual application is required the area is isolated, residents are relocated for the period, and a written re-entry time is issued to the clinical manager.

What evidence do we get for a Commission site audit?

A written pest management plan, the monthly service schedule, every visit report with photos and findings, the product and SDS register, and a corrective action log showing each defect closed out with a date.

How fast can you respond to a sighting in a resident room?

Urgent sightings are treated as priority attendance, typically same-day or next-day under contract. Bed bug and mite reports include inspection of adjoining rooms and a clearance re-inspection.

Are your technicians police checked?

Yes. Technicians attending aged care hold current police checks and are inducted to the home's infection control and visitor requirements before their first attendance.

Can you cover multiple homes in a group?

Yes. Group contracts run one agreement with per-home schedules, plus a consolidated portfolio report so the quality manager can compare sites and see emerging trends.
