Why school campuses are high-pressure pest sites
A school is effectively a small suburb: canteen kitchens and cool rooms, food waste bins, sports fields, demountable classrooms on piers, storerooms full of cardboard and paper, roof voids over 1960s brick blocks, and hundreds of children carrying food into every corner of the site. Rodents follow the canteen and the bins, cockroaches colonise kitchen and staffroom voids, and ants and stored product insects find their way into food tech rooms and canteen dry stores.
The outdoor risk is just as serious. European wasp and paper wasp nests build in eaves, awning channels, playground equipment, shade-sail fixings and covered outdoor learning areas — and a single disturbed nest can put multiple students into an ambulance. Do your technicians hold a Working With Children Check?
Yes. Every technician attending a school holds a current NSW Working With Children Check, and the clearance number can be supplied to your office before the first visit.
Will treatments happen while students are on site?
No. Routine internal and external treatments are scheduled for pupil-free days, school holidays or after-hours windows. Where an urgent term-time treatment is unavoidable we isolate the area, treat it and provide written re-entry times.
How quickly can you remove a wasp nest during term?
Stinging-insect events are treated as priority — we aim for same-day or next-day attendance, set an exclusion zone around the nest and give you a written outcome report for the school's incident register.
Can you work in with canteen food-safety audits?
Yes. Canteen service reports, station maps and pest trend data are formatted so they can be filed directly into the canteen's food safety program and shown to a council or NSW Food Authority inspector.
Do you cover ants, spiders and bird mites too?
Yes. School programs are general pest programs — cockroaches, ants, spiders, rodents, wasps, bees, birds and mites are all covered, with termite inspection available as an add-on for older timber-framed blocks.
