Food Manufacturing Pest Control Sydney
Food manufacturing sites are audited on their pest program as closely as on their cook step. Redback runs HACCP-aligned manufacturing programs built to survive BRCGS, SQF, HACCP and retailer audits without a single non-conformance for missing records.
Where pest risk actually sits in a manufacturing plant
In a food plant the pest risk is structural, not incidental. Raw material intake brings stored product insects in on pallets, sacks and cartons from suppliers; dispatch docks stand open for hours a day; wash-down water pools under conveyors and inside equipment plinths; and flour, sugar, starch and product residue accumulate in exactly the places production cannot reach during a normal clean. That residue is the food source that sustains cockroaches, beetles, moths and rodents between cleans.
The building envelope is the second problem. Strip curtains that no longer meet, roller doors with worn bottom seals, unsealed conduit and pipe penetrations, roof sheeting gaps and drainage without one-way valves all give rodents and flies continuous access. Warm plant rooms, ovens and motor housings then provide harbourage that survives every shutdown clean.
The commercial consequence is disproportionate. A single insect fragment in finished product triggers a customer complaint, a recall investigation, retailer scrutiny and potentially a delisting. Auditors know this, which is why pest management is one of the most heavily evidenced sections of a food safety audit — and why a program without trend analysis, thresholds and documented corrective action will lose points even when the site is visibly clean.
Our food manufacturing program
Site risk assessment & device mapping
Every device numbered and plotted on a scaled site plan — external bait stations, internal monitors, EFKs and pheromone traps, with a documented rationale for each location.
Scheduled service frequency
Fortnightly or monthly service as risk dictates, with each visit recorded against the device map and any device unable to be inspected reported by exception.
Pheromone & EFK monitoring
Species-specific pheromone lures for stored product moths and beetles, plus EFK catch analysis to identify fly pressure sources before they reach production.
Trend analysis & thresholds
Catch data trended by device and zone against agreed action thresholds, so a rising trend triggers investigation before it becomes a contamination event.
Root cause & proofing register
Structural defects — seals, penetrations, drainage, hygiene blind spots — logged, ranked and tracked to closure rather than repeatedly re-treated.
Audit pack maintenance
A single, current pest folder: plan, device map, service history, trend graphs, product list, SDS, licences and insurances ready for an unannounced audit.
Audit evidence maintained for your site
- HACCP-aligned pest management plan with defined action thresholds
- Scaled device map with numbered stations, monitors and EFKs
- Trend analysis and corrective action register with closeout dates
- APVMA-registered products applied to label by NSW-licensed technicians
- Complete SDS and product approval register held on site
- Licences, insurances and technician competency records current at all times
Manufacturing coverage across Sydney's food precincts
Redback services food manufacturers across Sydney's major industrial precincts — Smeaton Grange, Gregory Hills and Ingleburn in the south-west, Wetherill Park, Smithfield and Yennora in the west, Blacktown and Erskine Park along the M7 corridor, and the older inner-west and southern manufacturing pockets. Proximity matters here: audit findings and contamination investigations need a technician on site the same day, not next week.
We are HACCP-based certified and a registered NSW Government supplier (ABN 50 664 332 852), and our reporting formats are written for third-party auditors — which means your quality manager spends audit day answering questions, not assembling paperwork.
- Bakery, snack, confectionery and cereal plants
- Meat, smallgoods and poultry processing
- Dairy, beverage and bottling facilities
- Ready meal, sauce and packaged food production
- Ingredient, flour and dry goods handling
- Warehousing, dispatch docks and raw material intake
Questions we get asked
Will your program pass a BRCGS or SQF audit?
Our programs are built to those evidence requirements: documented plan, scaled device map, service history, trend analysis against thresholds, corrective actions with closeout dates, SDS register and current licences and insurances. We also attend audits with your quality team on request.
How often should a food plant be serviced?
Most manufacturing sites run fortnightly or monthly depending on product risk, throughput and history. Frequency is set in the risk assessment and reviewed against trend data rather than left fixed.
Do you use pheromone monitoring?
Yes. Species-specific pheromone traps for stored product moths and beetles are standard in dry goods areas, and catch data is trended so a supplier-borne infestation is identified at intake rather than in finished product.
What happens if a threshold is exceeded?
An exceedance triggers an immediate investigation report — likely source, contributing structural or hygiene defects, recommended corrective actions and an increased service frequency until the trend returns below threshold.
Can you attend during a shutdown clean?
Yes. Shutdown periods are the best window for equipment-level treatment and proofing works, and we schedule crews around planned shutdowns and production changeovers.
We use your property size and location to calculate real-time local chemical rates — takes under 60 seconds.
